This is a 10.5” Panawal Gripper khukuri. "Pana" means "tang" and "wal" means type. Thus the handle of this khukuri is a famous Panawal version where the handle pieces are glued with epoxy to the full flat tang and metal rivets are fitted together to strengthen the fixtures. The strong handle makes the khukuri suitable for heavy duty works. The metal butt and integral guard are made to withstand the heavy impact taken by the blade.

This khukuri has a strong blade construction and is a medium weight with flexible handling.

Gurkha Warriors carry the service khukuri with them but at the time of war they carried a razor sharp khukuri as well, which is the Panawal Khukuri like this one. To make retention easier and more effective, the handle is carved with grooves for easy upholding even by the moist palms providing less tensile on the forearms. The handle guard prevents the hand from slipping during rough and heavy uses with strong hold until the blade does it works.

Two small blades namely Karda & Chakmak are also part of this khukuri. Karda is a small, sharp utility knife which can be used to cut small wood for kindling, carve holes, skinning animals etc. And the Chakmak, a purposely blunt blade with high level of hardness that is used for honing the Khukuri and Karda in the field, and also for striking sparks for fire.

GGK produces highest quality Karda and Chakmak from leaf spring steel compared to others.
